Pandemic Still Lives, Summer 2020

Pandemic Still Lives  I am a COVID survivor. While I was ill my days were not ordinary at all, but now they are again. Making each humble drawing is my way of honoring those we have lost and the accumulated, ordinary, moments of their lives. These drawings began as a meditation on the catastrophe that expands all around us  while days go on in their humble, ordinary, lucky-to-be-alive way: food is prepared, napkin rings arranged, swing state postcards sent, work accomplished. Each image documents a date, what is on the kitchen table,  and  the number of worldwide deaths COVID-19 deaths on that date.  Thank you for paying attention. - Sarah
